Hosting an event

Creating, sharing, and managing your event from the host dashboard.

How do I create a PicShots event?

Sign in as a host with your email, then tap 'Create event'. Give it a name, set a per-guest shot limit, choose whether to allow short video clips, and confirm your expected guest count. You'll get a host dashboard with a shareable guest link and QR code.

How do I share the event with guests?

From the host dashboard, copy the guest link or download the QR code. Print the QR on table cards, slip it into your invite, or drop the link into a group chat or event Slack. Guests do not need an account.

Can I change the shot limit after the event starts?

Yes. Update the per-guest shot limit from the host dashboard at any time. Existing uploads are kept; the new limit applies to future uploads.

How do I reveal the shared gallery to guests?

From the host dashboard, toggle gallery visibility. While it's hidden, guests can only see their own uploads. When you reveal it, every guest sees the full shared gallery.

How do I download every photo as a ZIP?

Open the host dashboard, scroll to the uploads section, and tap the download/ZIP action. You'll get a single archive with every guest's roll for your event.

How do I delete a photo or an entire event?

From the host dashboard you can delete any individual upload, and you can delete the whole event. Deleting an event removes its uploads from storage as well.

Guest experience

What guests see, do, and don't need to install.

Do guests need to download an app?

No. Guests scan the QR code or tap the link, type a display name, and start shooting in their mobile browser. PicShots installs as an optional Progressive Web App if a guest wants it, but it is not required.

Do guests need to create an account?

No. Guests only enter a display name so the host can sort uploads later. There is no signup, password, or email confirmation for guests.

Can a guest delete a photo they uploaded?

Yes. Guests can delete their own uploads from the same phone they uploaded from. Hosts can delete any upload from the host dashboard.

Will photos take up storage on the guest's phone?

No. Photos upload directly to your shared gallery and are not saved to the guest's camera roll unless they choose to save them.

Can guests upload short videos?

Short video clips are available as an optional paid add-on on every paid event tier. Photos work out of the box on every event.

Pricing & billing

How tiers, the free plan, and payments work.

Is PicShots free?

Yes for events up to 10 guests — no card required. Paid tiers scale with expected guest count and are pay-once per event, not a subscription. See the pricing page for current tiers.

How do I choose a tier?

Use the calculator on the pricing page. Pick the tier that covers your expected guest count comfortably; you can upgrade later if you go bigger.

Do I pay per photo?

No. Pricing is per event, not per photo or per guest. Per-guest shot limits are an editorial choice you set; they do not affect billing.

How does the video add-on work?

Short video clips are an optional paid add-on on top of any paid tier. Enable it during checkout or from the host dashboard. Photo events remain unaffected if you don't enable it.

Privacy & data

Where uploads live, who can see them, and how long they're kept.

Where are event photos stored?

Privately, with no public listings. Photos are served via short-lived, event-scoped links so only people with the event link (and PIN, if set) can reach them.

Who can see the photos?

The host always can. Guests can see their own uploads any time, and the full shared gallery only when the host reveals it. People without the event link (and PIN, if set) cannot see anything.

How long are photos kept?

Photos remain in your event for the lifetime of the event. Delete individual uploads or the entire event whenever you want.

Does PicShots use my photos for ads or AI training?

No. PicShots does not sell, share, or use uploads for advertising or model training. See the privacy policy for full data handling.

Is PicShots GDPR-aware?

PicShots uses only strictly-necessary cookies and provides host and guest deletion controls. See the privacy and security pages for details, and contact support for specific compliance questions.

Troubleshooting

Quick fixes for the most common issues at events.

A guest cannot open the link

Check that the URL was shared correctly and that the event is paid (if it's on a paid tier). If the venue has weak signal, move closer to a stronger Wi-Fi area before opening the link.

Uploads are failing for a guest

Network issues are the most common cause. Ask the guest to switch to Wi-Fi or move to better signal, then retry. If the issue persists across guests, contact support with the event name and a rough time.

I lost access to the host dashboard

Open the host dashboard URL again and request a new magic link to your email. If you signed in as a guest via PIN, use the 'Enter event code' flow.

The QR code does not scan

Print the QR larger and ensure good contrast against the background. On dark table cards, place the QR inside a white rectangle. Avoid laminating with reflective film.

I need to contact a human

Use the contact page. Include your event name or code so support can find the right gallery quickly.
