How to Display a Wedding Photo QR Code (Signs, Tables, Screens)

A beautiful QR that nobody notices is a failed QR. Display means contrast, size, height, and a two-second explanation. Treat the code like wayfinding, not only stationery art.

Start with one primary placement that every guest will see, then add one or two secondary placements. More than that rarely helps unless the venue is large or multi-room.

Best primary displays

Table cards win for seated receptions because guests sit with the code for hours. Welcome easels win for cocktail hour. A reception screen slide wins when the room is already looking forward.

• Table card: eye-level on every table, at least 3 cm / 1.2 in QR width.
• Welcome sign: large code near the entrance or cocktail area.
• Programme / favor card: useful for ceremony-to-reception transitions.
• Bar card: strong because guests wait with phones in hand.

Height, lighting, and scan distance

Place codes where a phone camera can square up without awkward bending. Avoid floor-level signage and deep shade under floral arches. Test under reception lighting, not only daylight at home.

As a rule: the farther a guest stands, the larger the code must be. A table card can be small. A welcome sign scanned from two meters cannot.

Digital displays that still feel intentional

Put the QR on a wedding website page, a welcome email, and one slide during speeches. Digital displays help destination guests and late arrivals, but they do not replace physical table cards for live capture.

If you show the gallery on a TV, keep moderation on or delay the reveal so the screen never becomes the awkward surprise of the night.

A simple display checklist

Print one test card. Scan it on iPhone and Android. Confirm the landing page opens the guest camera. Confirm the wording says what happens next. Then duplicate that proven card across tables.
